Emergency Medical Technician

Emergency Medical Technicians provide out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services (EMS) system. EMTs have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. Emergency Medical Technicians are a critical link between the scene of an emergency and the health care system.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician

The Advanced EMT Program, presented by LifeTeam EMS Education and Training Division, is a fast-paced certification program designed to prepare the EMT for advancement into the Advanced EMT role.

The primary focus of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.

Paramedic

The Paramedic Program, powered by LifeTeam EMS in collaboration with the Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania, is an intensive and fast-paced certification program designed to prepare EMTs for advancement into the Paramedic role.

The primary focus of the Paramedic is to provide advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. Paramedics possess comprehensive knowledge and skills necessary to manage medical and traumatic emergencies, provide critical interventions, and deliver high-quality patient care during transport. Paramedics function as an integral part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight, utilizing advanced equipment and techniques to stabilize and treat patients in prehospital settings.

This program is designed to develop competent and confident Paramedics who can serve as vital links between the scene and the emergency health care system. It represents a collaborative effort to cultivate excellence in EMS education, leveraging the resources and expertise of LifeTeam EMS Education and Training Division and the Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania to prepare the next generation of EMS professionals.

Pre-Hospital Registered RN

The Prehospital Registered Nurse (PHRN) Program, presented by LifeTeam EMS, is an intensive ten-week training program designed to prepare the experienced registered nurse for employment in the prehospital emergency medical environment. This course will shift the candidate's mindset from controlled hospital healthcare to the autonomous and out-of-hospital setting through a specialized education model, encompassing in-person classroom learning, online reinforcement of knowledge, and clinical field experiences. PHRNs act under the direct supervision of a medical director and follow treatment protocols set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. By the end of this program, PHRN Candidates will be prepared to challenge the NREMT ALS Level Cognitive exam and have passed the NREMT BLS Psychomotor exam. The sole intent of this program is to provide challenging yet accessible education in order to prepare the PHRN candidate for immediate employment within an EMS Organization. ​
